The Competition Game

  • Description: Competition in the world is part of the nature of the game, it is, in ecological terms, the natural interactions between organisms, populations or species, in which birth, growth and death depends on gaining a share of limited natural resources. This notion of competition as our means of survival, while true, limited our perspective on evolution. Competition thus became the ultimate mode where everyone fends for themselves in an egocentric or ethnocentric competition game of me first or my group and our beliefs first. While important stages of growth, we can also see competition from a worldcentric perspective where competition is a means to continuously push the envelope and expand our level of awareness, in particular, beyond the current egocentrism and ethnocentrism, this is the push of evolution. Competition in this sense appears as the challenges we face in our process of growth, competition is a learning process not domination, control, and a one winner, me first perspective. As our awareness expands and evolves so to does our concept of competition, where we can all win together. This is the high road to a level of COOPerition, one that cooperatively competes with the previous level of awareness with the aim of surpassing it and allowing every organism, population and species to reach its highest potential.

to communicate the messages of the divine that flow through me.
winning and losing are only in relation to each other. in that sense, to lose is as beneficial as to win. the process of competing provides us with wisdom and how we move forward is of most importance. in remembering this, we can view nature with out judgment, understanding that life and death are part of the ever changing phenomena. and as such we can create the space for all creatures to evolve to the highest.

our goal in the game is to challenge the existing systems with the potential for cooperation to be as prominent as competition, to balance our ancient animal nature with our potential to act from our divine nature.
stop and smell the roses. i need to own this challenge that i just made to our world and become a channel for cooperation.. and challenge myself when the competitive nature comes up... see it for what it is and not to get caught up in its tentacles. it is learning to stop and be truly in the moment.

through our project and in general i see us offering a way to offer the best of all worlds through a global "coopertition." this we can do in many ways to honor the power of competing, especially with ourselves...and also to cooperate when and where it is appropriate.
this balance will offer a world filled with magic and possibility. living in this world now i feel this magic and give thanks for this awareness!

my relate is that "most everyone" competes in some way - either for time, energy or power. you need to recognize that your desire (intent) my not always be felt in the way "you" intended it - realize the perspective of the recipient.
i need to do the same - where competition is turn it into cooperation and collaboration through "actions" not just my intention.

this is the reason we want to work in cooperation. there is so much competition in the world and in our lives. having another 5 people to acknowledge this connection is a positive move in itself.

i want to express gratitude for all the blessings that i have in my life right now.
this card seems incongruent, however, i will take up the challenge of competing with another player by relating and expressing gratitude repeatedly and boldly until another player steps up and joins in with rejoicing for all their blessings too.

i'm relating to the competition: for me it's to best oneself. to be the best you can be. there really isn't any competition between players. it's about reaching your personal best or highest potential.
this relaxation card is very helpful because i can go inward to be my personal best and have the energy to go outward with gratitude and touch others to do the same.

the challenge is to practice our gratitude in a competitive world. the challenge is to go beyond our own competitive impulses and remain centered in gratitude and humility and love.
oh yeah, wisdom and just being!

yes jai, thank you. it is vital to our being to express gratitude in the competitive world, in spite of the competive world and instead of the competive world ... staying in a state of gratitude is a great discipline in this world of thoughts and feelings that compete for our attention.
just today i was thinking about how powerful beauty is. it can take your breath away. it can stop you in your tracks. it seems to be the expression of love and creativity together. beauty is a witness that there is much to be grateful for.

gratitude, i read once, is the closest state of being one can reach to divinity on this plane of existance, and through gratitude for all things and experiences enables one to experience true personal freedom. i believe that it is a state of nobility one can reach when one recognizes that there is something to be grateful for in every experience. beauty is something for which i am extremely grateful, and is an essential aspect of true power (vs force).
consciousness, which neville writes, is the only real truth, is something that is talked about so much, in so many variations by so many people, this card to me symbolizes all the chatter one hears about "consciousness," and alerts us (me) to the importance of going within to understand the significance of gratitude and beauty, and observe how both are being manifested (or not) in the lives of each player.

karen, jai, don ~ thank you for sparking this dialogue on gratitude and competition. a daily practice of expressing gratitude has become one of my "golden threads". the heart opens automatically and all is well no matter what. good/god is. my competition is only the ego/mind that wants to complain or be less than or have not. the ping pong match is fascinating, with the witness the only winner - if there is one. even then the heart competes with "the witness" - just wanting to love and be loved. even then - this knowledge can get dry and look for another oasis. perhaps "the play" of relating about all this - through relationships - has an effect for transformation as part of the new paradigm. so karen i really relate to your commitment to keep showing up with gratitude. with the appearance of a complicated world/mind - this intention for gratitude is one of the most powerful transformers i know. simple. powerful. effective. and ultimately transformative and satisfying beyond our wildest dreams of resistance or desire ....... ah there is the rub ~ and the delight! there's lots of competition to gratitude - great to have the contrast - then when we choose or are chosen - we get to see and enjoy its power and precious glory! natural blessings. for now. om
hmmm - i like this - a napkin. it looks like a plan - spontaneously written on a napkin as in when i am inspired and have nothing else to write on. i think i'll craft a more intentional plan for living in gratitude - but fluid for the spontaneous moment. exploring. going deeper. deeper.

one of the definitions of competition is: a test of skill or ability; a contest: a skating competition. when we compete with another it gives us the opportunity to see where we are at in our 'fitness level' and also gives us the opportunity to improve ourselves where we are lacking. we cannot grow in a vacuum. a healthy competition can be fun and inspiring. a mean-spirited or self-serving competition will end the growth of another.
this is telling me that i need to stretch my ability to see beyond what is in front of me. everything's connected.
